Strawberry Panic! Episode 01

March 31, 2007

Summary
Nagisa Aoi, a first year high school student, is sent to the prestigious Astraea Dormitory after her parents transferred abroad. There, the dormitory is occupied by students of three well-known all girls’ schools: Le Rim Girls School, St. Spica’s Academy, and St. Miatre Girls Academy. On her first day, Nagisa has an unexpected encounter with Shizuma Hanazano, or also named as Etoile, who is the representative of all three schools and is well loved by everyone. The surprise meeting proves interesting as Hanazano looks to have taken a liking to Nagisa.

Review
I’ve actually been receiving a lot of recommendations from my friends regarding this particular anime, so I decided to finally watch it and see for myself how good it is. At first glance, it does prove to be very, very pleasing to the eye and the audio isn’t bad as well.

But still, it’s a typical shoujo-ai in an all girls’ academy, but it is entertaining to watch. The main heroine is not as simpering, although her love interest is still cold, popular, and mysterious. The characters are very flat, sadly, but the art is immensely pretty and the story’s progression isn’t too bad. Also, I really like the take they did with the ED. Veeerry pretty.

All in all, I’d give it an 8/10. The first episode didn’t bore me so much, unlike Maria-sama ga Miteru, so I think that’s a good sign.

Yukinoooooon~!

Stumbled on some really adorable Kare Kano fanart today. It brought me back to my Kare Kano watching days. So much that it kind of made me want to make a post on how much I love Kare Kano.

So.

I love Kare Kano. :D

I NEED TO BUY THE MANGA. NOW. ;O; … goodbye, savings! You have served me well all these non-eating lunch hours!

B… P…. S!

Watching this anime my brother introduced to me. It’s called Battle Programmer Shirase. Pretty damn cool, really. XD

Death Note (manga), Honey and Clover II

Death Note

I just realized that I haven’t made a proper post for Death Note (I’m pretty sure fangirling isn’t proper, anyway). I’ll just blog what I’ve read in the manga so far, which is only until chapter forty. The start of Death Note was already pretty intriguing. Ryuk/Ryuku himself was enough to get me to continue, really. Plus, Raito/Light is in desperate need of professional help and that’s pretty cool. The concept of this death note thing is also very creative. The morbidity and this wrong sense of justice is just so awesome. The plot also builds up really well and I didn’t get bored during the time I was reading it (vision started failing, man!).

As for the characters, I am totally not complaining. I love L and his quirks and oddities. Raito/Light is kind of a love/hate character for me, though. I really hate him sometimes but I can’t see Death Note continuing without him. Misa can get a little annoying but she’s otherwise pretty damn fun. The detective squad is so awesome (especially Matsuda!). I have no complains whatsoever.

In conclusion, Death Note really got me hooked. With the combination of really good art and really , really good plot, how can it not?

Honey and Clover II

May contain slight spoilers.

I’ve only watched till episode six, so I’ll blog about that. The first episode was basically a recap of the first season. Nothing truly surprising there. In the next episodes, we get to see a little of Hagu’s dilemma with Takemoto, some insight on Shinobu and Kaoru’s childhood past, and Shinobu’s feelings for Hagu. Most of the episodes I’ve watched so far, though, deals with Yamada’s feelings for Mayama and Mayama’s feelings for Rika. Episodes like these MAKE ME CRY. I really, really, really don’t want to hate Mayama but he’s making it so hard on poor Yamada. And I truly, truly, truly want Mayama to go with Rika (especially after episode four!) but I love Yamada way too much to hope for that.

But the blooming relationship between Nomiya and Yamada is really heartwarming. I’d rather see Yamada with Nomiya, really. Nomiya is just really sincere and nice and sweet and self-consciously adorable!

As for the Takemoto/Hagu/Shinobu relationship, it’s starting to get somewhere but… not really. Every time it feels like something is going to happen, it stops. But I’m still Takemoto/Hagu, man! Takemoto, go, go!

Mallfun.

Finally, I bought a new cellphone strap. I can’t get over FMA, it seems, because I bought yet another FMA strap except its Roy this time and not Ed and Al. But I think Al kind of matched my mobile better since he looks rather similar to the exterior of my mobile. Haha.

I also bought a protective case for my mobile as well ’cause I really don’t want it to suffer the same fate of my old phones (scratched screen, etc). Oh, and I bought a new wallet as well ’cause it was cute and pink and mrr. Speaking of pink, I saw a kid buying a DS. Jealousy kicked in. I really want that darn pink DS lite. I mean, the games are so cool.

Oh yah, I saw the Wii. OMG. SO PRETTY. Okay, not really pretty but, you know!

I browsed around stores which sold iPod Nano accessories and such. Nowadays, they’re mostly second gen merchandise. It’s pretty annoying for first gen users like me! But, honestly, I don’t really plan on buying new accessories. I’m pretty content with the iDevil silicone case (even if the new stuff are pretty cool!). I mean, it fits my Nano’s name so well (it’s Dante).

And yeah, if we’re talking about Divina Comedia, it should be an angel. But I’m pretty damn obsessed with both Dante Alighierie and DMC!Dante, so…. Yeah.
